IX / Elon Musk's Twitter is removing retweets, as well as reply and counter buttons

Another big change that no one asked for is coming to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

UX plans to do so redesign how content appears in users' feeds by removing contact buttons from posts. This means that repost (aka retweet), like, and reply buttons will no longer appear on individual posts in X users' timelines.

Along with the removal of buttons, the number of reposts, likes, and replies will also be removed from each post.

Instead of tapping a button, X wants users to swipe left or right on a post to like or reply. IX for iOS users and can force touch the post to open a menu with more options.

The only visible metric for posts on the timeline will be the number of views, which has always been the case moved in the upper right corner of the post.

The upcoming X post design change was first discovered by researcher Aaron Perris of MacRumors. X owner Elon Musk has confirmed that it is coming.

The reaction of many users so far has been negative.

The latest major platform change happened last month when Musk made several “likes” on the platform which is confidential. Previously, users could click on “like count” and see a list of users who liked a post. Now, only the user who published the post can see which users liked it. Now, with Musk confirming the removal of reposts and like buttons on posts, he will institute another change he has long wanted to make.
